December 8, 2016 - Letters to the Universe, a new book by Debbie-Ann M. Smith, has been released by RoseDog Books.

Letters to the Universe is a compilation of inspirational poems written over the course of about 20 years. These poems were written to help the Author get through much of the difficult experiences she has had in her life. In the book she shares her thoughts on things common to everyone, Life, Love and Faith. The poems are presented in chronological order, and the author's shift in thought can be clearly seen in each section. The undertone of this body of poems is hope. Hope for the future, hope for love whether it is lost or found. Hope for fulfilling dreams and accomplishing goals, hope for a better life hope for fulfillment, serenity and balance. It is the author's desire to provide strength and hope to others who may be faced with tough situations.

About the Author:
Debbie-Ann M. Smith is the youngest of three siblings born the late Carolyn Odessa and Howard Maxwell Smith. She was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica. As a child she spent much of her time outdoors, climbing trees, racing, playing with her neighbors and best friends. She had a vivid imagination, and would spend hours acting out stories alone or with friends. At the age of 12 she left her beautiful island home for the United States. She began to write poems. Debbie-Ann enlisted in the Army at the age of 21. During her 16 year career she has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (1) and completed several overseas tours to Asia and Europe. While serving, she completed her Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning from the University of Louisville and is currently pursuing her Masters in Management and Leadership and Human Resources through Webster University. She plans to graduate in the summer of 2017. After serving 12 years as an enlisted Soldier, she earned her commission as a Logistics Officer, and Debbie-Ann will continue to serve in the Military until she retires in 2023. She is a single parent to her son Jhordan.
