New Mobile Enhancements Deliver On-The-Go Document Viewing

February 01, 2018 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Waltham, MA (February 1, 2018) - Snowbound Software, the market leader in document viewing technology, today announced significant mobile enhancements to VirtualViewer®, the firm's award-winning pure HTML5, web-based document viewer.

The latest version of VirtualViewer® HTML5 (v4.10) provides a friendlier, more intuitive interface experience for users accessing the viewer on mobile devices, as well as tablets and touchscreen laptops.

"These mobile enhancements allow users to more easily access and collaborate on their documents regardless of where they are and what device they are on," said Snowbound's said Sr. Sales Engineer, Ed Berberian.

The mobile enhancements include:

  • Touch-based interactions for users to scroll up or down a document or image with one finger, as well as pan on an image in all directions when it is zoomed in. Using two fingers, the user can pinch to zoom in or zoom out on the document. There are also touch-based gestures associated with the thumbnail panel where users can long-press on a thumbnail to call up a context menu.
  • A more elegant toolbar display for smaller frames and smaller browser windows, as well as on low-resolution monitors, ensures a clean and intuitive user experience regardless of device. On large screens, the toolbars look exactly the same as before, but as the screen shrinks down in smaller windows or on devices with less real estate such as mobile devices, the buttons automatically collapse into menus.
  • The toolbar buttons are highly configurable so organizations can customize exactly which buttons they want displayed, as well as the location and in what order.

  • "The ability for the viewer toolbar to adjust based on window and device size is especially helpful for users who are accessing the viewer when it is embedded into small frames or windows in existing content management systems, such as Alfresco or IBM," said Berberian. "All of the viewer's functionality remains, but it is presented in a way that is easy for the user to navigate."
