American Dream: Manhattan Home Design Goes From $500 to Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Companies with Help from Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses

New York, New York February 9, 2018 – With only $400 in his pocket and little-to-no English, serial entrepreneur, Daniel Levy was determined to own a successful business in the United States. He began by working as a dishwasher for $4 per hour, while taking English classes and saving money to invest in his business. With $500 start up capital, Manhattan Home Design was born.

As one of the first companies to complete Goldman Sachs' highly competitive "10,000 Small Businesses" program, chaired by Warren Buffet and led by business experts from Harvard Business School, Manhattan Home Design has grown in size, revenue and influence. The company is now one of Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies and has spun off ManhattanOfficeFurniture.com to serve the commercial market.

Daniel Levy, CEO of Manhattan Office Design said: "I learned a lot from the program about business development strategy and we have developed a fast-growing B2G (Business to Government) vertical, GovernmentOfficeFurniture.com."

The 10,000 Small Businesses program is an investment by Goldman Sachs to "help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing access to education, capital and business support services. Goldman Sachs will host the first-ever 10,000 Small Businesses Summit: The Big Power of Small Business, one of the largest ever gatherings of small business owners focused on charting a path to help small businesses grow and compete successfully. Thousands of small business owners from across the US who are alumni of the 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) program will participate in the event, which will take place February 13 and 14 in Washington, D.C.

"I am excited to attend the Summit and Hill Day, and to participate in conversations with fellow 10KSB alumni as well as Congress members representing the greater New York City region."

"One of the key issues facing many small business owners in NYC - and the greater community - is the need for more diversity and inclusion when it comes to procurement by large companies and government agencies. I plan to surface this issue and hopefully collaborate with fellow 10KSB alumni to elevate our voice and opinions on this matter."

"Many cities, like New York, have set ambitious diversity and inclusion goals, yet the barriers of entry for companies like mine, and other 10KSB alumni remain high."
