Lipedema is a chronic, painful fat disorder that occurs mainly in the female population. Lipedema is often misdiagnosed as simple obesity; however, this abnormal accumulation of fat can often be debilitating and affect a person's mobility and ability to carry out daily activities. Lipedema generally affects the legs, but it can also be in the arms and abdominal area. If left untreated, it can also lead to other serious medical conditions.

Fat Disorders Research Society is a non-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people affected by adipose tissue disorders. The FDRS annual congress gathers medical experts from around the world that specialize in fat disorders, which are either rare or do not receive proper recognition.

Dr. Wright understands this disease can be painful and is creating the awareness that there are effective treatments. He is one of very few vein and lymphatic specialists to be able to diagnosis Lipedema and effectively treat the disease using state of the art lymph-sparing liposuction techniques.
