ABIM Foundation Announces New Trustee

PHILADELPHIA, July 15, 2019 - The ABIM Foundation announces the appointment of Marianne M. Green, MD, FACP, to its Board of Trustees for a three-year term. As Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), Dr. Green also sits on the Foundation trustee board.

"The Foundation is in the midst of building new strategic partnerships to advance its new focus, nurturing trust in health care, and a diversity of voices helps tremendously with broadening the way governance bodies think about their organizational goals and initiatives," said Richard J. Baron, MD, President and CEO of ABIM and ABIM Foundation. "Marianne will bring fresh perspectives to the important work we have ahead in fostering greater trust in health care."

Dr. Green, board certified in Internal Medicine, serves as Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Raymond H. Curry, MD, Professor of Medical Education. She is also a Professor of Medicine at Feinberg. Her academic career has focused on medical education, with specific emphasis on assessment of professionalism. She has led several educational initiatives, including as the Administrative Leader for the Competency-Based Education Initiative.

In her practice with Northwestern Medical Group in Chicago, Dr. Green focuses on primary care of adults with acute and chronic illness. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Harvard Macy Fellowship for Assessment in Medical Education and the George H. Joost Outstanding Teacher Award. She has authored multiple papers and is a reviewer for several medical journals, including JAMA, Archives of Internal Medicine and Annals of Internal Medicine. She previously served as a member of the ABIM Council, including as its Director. She is a former Chair of the ABIM Internal Medicine Board.

The Board of Trustees oversees the ABIM Foundation's work in medical professionalism, and includes many national health care leaders.
