Modular Conveyor Comes to the Cleanroom

March 21, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
DynaCon(R) Modular Conveyor systems, the only completely modular conveyor system on the manufacturing scene today, offers the cleanroom a new solution for achieving expanded lean manufacturing capabilities, with a light-duty system that is ISO Class-3 approved.

Based on a unique “building block” concept of high-impact, interchangeable plastic modules, accessories and components, this system provides cleanroom and associated controlled environments with the flexibility and ease of reconfiguration to dramatically improve production flow and rapidly modify production schemes in order to handle more work.

“Lean manufacturing hasn’t been fully embraced until the recent recession,” says Laura Douglas, President of Turner Group, a Seattle-based rep firm that sells manufacturing equipment throughout the western U.S., Canada and Mexico. “Now we see enormous interest in making manufacturing operations leaner. That is a primary reason why the DynaCon system fits so many manufacturing environments, including cleanroom operations, many of which previously had inflexible and cumbersome conveyor systems, or conveyors that emitted particulate matter.”

Douglas, whose firm markets the DynaCon systems for its manufacturer, Dynamic Conveyor Systems of Muskegon, MI, adds that this type of material handling equipment is critical to achieving truly lean manufacturing, not only for cost reduction but also the ability to move quickly from producing one product to the next.

Manufacturers who assemble products for the medical, aerospace, electronics and telecommunications industries in cleanroom facilities are well suited to the DynaCon system. Modular systems, designed for flexibility, could also benefit significantly from the system’s portability and lightweight construction.

Many cleanroom environments are unable to meet Class-3 standards because they are now using conveying systems that require particulate-emitting lubricants. The
DynaCon system—rated to meet ISO Class 3 standards by an independent laboratory—not only eliminates that problem, but can also enable cleanrooms to make substantial productivity gains.

Highly portable and quiet, this system requires no lubrication and includes a maintenance-free, brushless dc motor, which produces no motor emissions. DynaCon conveyors also feature dust-free polypropylene rods as the hinge-pins for the conveying belt, which is also made of polypropylene.

The DynaCon is lightweight, making it easy to move and clean. Modules can be combined to build a horizontal system and later reconfigured to provide ascending and/or descending angles. DynaCon system modules include drive flights, side guards retaining walls, legs and connectors. A variety of primary accessories, such as cooling tunnels, separators, and water bath tanks for cooling products are available to enhance material handling equipment capabilities.

DynaCon replacement parts, ranging from belt links to modules and drive components are available for standard one-day shipment. However, many manufacturers carry an inventory of replacement parts and spare modules, which makes the repair or reconfiguration of a DynaCon system a matter of hours rather than days or weeks.

For over 20 years Dynamic Conveyor Corporation has been a source of innovative conveying systems for industry, including the lightweight, modular DynaCon system, the alternative to traditional heavy steel conveying systems that require custom fabrication and cannot be modified without considerable expense. The DynaCon system is appropriate for today’s manufacturing techniques, where work flows and systems must be adaptable to ever-changing processes and product requirements.
