Chicago, Illinois—Lee Nysted began his long journey in the world of music with Classical training at the age of seven and began playing the guitar at the age of nine. As they say, the rest is history…well, it’s not that simple.

Lee took a different road than most musicians. He went to college, actually finished, went to work, and became a productive member of society. Definitely not the makings of a rock star but his time would come much later. All good things take time and everyone has their trials and tribulations to suffer through before getting to the other side and Lee is no different.

Lee Nysted’s debut album Shoot From The Hip is a testament to his transformed life. The opening track “The Semantical Consort” is a real rocker, an energized and powerful opener. “Shoot From The Hip” keeps the kettle boiling; it features some nice guitar licks that show how this six-string craftsman has learned his lessons well over the years. Influences such John McLaughlin and Al Dimeola make their presence known in “Fire In The Hole,” a tasteful jazz-rock fusion track. The combination of the two genres play off each other giving the recording a variety and depth rarely found on a rock album. “All God’s Children” serves as message to us all and has some of the best guitar work on the album.

Life, love, and the pursuit of happiness through his family and music is his mantra. Many lessons can be learned from men like Lee Nysted, his humble and respectful approach to everyone he encounters is his greatest asset. In world of independent musicians, it can be hard to step out of the crowd and into the light, Shoot From The Hip rocks and offers some great music but it is much more than music, it is about a man’s life and his search for meaning and truth. Music with meaning and substance is something special to cherish and its artists like Nysted will continue to separate themselves from the rest that are always reaching for the brass ring.
