Custom Fire Truck gets a lift from Mickey Thompson with new tires and wheels.

When you think of fire trucks, rarely do you envision a ‘monster truck’ rolling down the highway. But that’s exactly what Project Responder (http://www.projectresponder.com) is, a monster fire truck. And with the support of Mickey Thompson Tires, Project Responder is sporting new rubber under the wheel wells. With a set of 40 inch Dick Cepek Fun Country Radial II tires hugging a set of 18 inch Mickey Thompson classic wheels, Project Responder has finally reached ‘monster’ status.

The crew of Project Responder chose the Dick Cepek tires because of their size, load capacity and because they have the heavy duty, rough riding, monster truck look that the owners of Project Responder were looking for. Mickey Thompson was very supportive of the endeavor and was more than happy to lend a hand. The wheels were a no-brainer considering that the wheels currently employed were too small for the new rubber. So Mickey Thompson supplied a set of their Classic aluminum wheels as well.

The tires and wheels were delivered on the first of March and were installed the same day. The new tires are significantly larger in diameter than those that were on the truck previously, to the point of dwarfing the previous 36 inch tires originally supplied when the truck was created. The Fun Country Radial II tires give the truck a gritty monster truck stance. Compact cars beware. The next time you hear the fire department responding to an emergency, keep your eyes peeled (and be sure to pull over to the right) because it just may be a monster truck in your rearview mirror.
