SUNNYVALE, CA. Sunnyvale welcomes back an old friend, Turmeric Restaurant, featuring fine-dining Indian cuisine. This updated restaurant, a destination on historic Murphy Avenue, premiers with world-class chef restaurateur Arvind Bhargava at the helm. Mr. Bhargava presents Indian cuisine specialties from a wide-range of regions throughout India. Bhargava prepares from scratch and perfectly matches the epicurean style of each key region of India. This popular restaurant prides itself on authenticity, originality and distinctively prepared recipes.

Chef Arvind co-owner with wife Vinita, is executive chef choosing a hands-on customer-oriented approach. He is a graduate of the Advanced Culinary Arts Program of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in New York, with classic training in Indian, French, Chinese and Italian methods. He has a long and rich history as executive chef in five-star hotels in India and the United States; having served notables including: President Bill Clinton, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi of India, former King of Jordan; and, India's famed Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, along with a long list of Silicon Valley luminaries.

Chef Arvind served as master-chef at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, India and later at Washington, D.C.'s award winning Bombay Club. He meticulously oversees the preparation of food at Turmeric. "It must be from scratch. No exceptions. If you take shortcuts, it’s going to affect the dish," he notes.

This Grand Opening is an opportunity for diners from around the Bay Area to enjoy and really "taste India." Dishes such as Murg (chicken) Makhan Masala (from Punjab), Khoe Awadh (lamb shanks from Lucknow), Chef’s Special- Lahsooni Murg Kebab, Seafood Curry, Chilli Chicken, Goan Shrimp Balchau (from Goa), Achar Gosht (from Hyderabad), and Aloo Dun Chutneywala (Chefs creation) are all a sampling of the unique preparations from Chef Arvind. Turmeric, named after the famed spice and used in many Indian dishes, is the name and theme for the restaurant. Flavors and dishes are carefully paired and combined to yield a real Indian epicurean experience. Chef Arvind also expertly prepares a full and unique vegetarian fare. With classic design and ambiance, Turmeric offers a full-bar and impressive wine-collection. Specialized Indian drinks are available including Mango Martini, Bombay Blue, Indian Summer Iced Tea (infused with classic flavors), and Absolute Madras to name a few.

Turmeric opens for lunch and dinner seven days. For lunches patrons may choose from a menu of specialty Indian cuisine or sample its many flavors in a daily buffet upstairs.
