Due North Rolls Out New Domain

America’s Internet address is the new Web location of Due North Marketing Communications, Inc., the company announced today.

“We’re very pleased with our move to www.DueNorth.us,” said Due North President Scott Walker. “The dot-US domain is the official country code top-level domain for the United States, and it’s a distinctive address. It’s the only way to establish an American address on the Internet, and market research has demonstrated its ready acceptance as a short and memorable domain name.”

The site migrated this month from its initial home at a dot-com address, Walker said. “The dot-com world is getting more and more crowded, especially in the marketing segment. We believe the best use of that domain is for direct-to-consumer applications. For business services like ours it’s better to locate at an address that will differentiate us from all the rest. There’s no better way for Due North to do that than with a dot-US address.”

Due North still advises its consumer business clients to remain in the dot-com realm, Walker said. “If you’re selling direct to consumers, that’s still the place your customers expect you to be. Even though it’s getting more crowded, there are still plenty of dot-com domains available. The challenge there is to have the creativity to conceive of domain names that fit in your customers’ perceptual comfort zone and that are still available through domain registrants.”

The new address is permanent, Walker said. Due North has signed a contract that reserves the domain name for a minimum of 10 years.
