http://www.travelpixel.net is, at first glance, a standard micro advertising site following the standard set by Alex Tew and his milliondollarhomepage. The addition of free and cheaper 'zones' was a concept that has been repeated across the board for most of the copycat sites that realise the market is saturated. Travelpixel uses a free area too but also introduces some useful content.

An 'expert guide' section introduces another new internet concept in google 'mash ups'. Mash ups use the google local technology to allow webmasters to show local attractions or directions on a zoomable and navigitable map format. Travelpixel ese this concept to show locations authored by its members. Venice and Maui are among the destinations shown.

Also featured is a new villa rental section (http://www.travelpixel.net/php/rental_select.php) for holidaymakers keen to self cater in properties ranging from villas in Tuscany to beach chalets in Jamaica.

A currency converter, international dialling codes chart and 'travelforum' all contribute to shaping a one dimensional page into a useful resource site for potential travellers.

Its a fast paced business in this new micro advertising world. Travelpixel seems to be leading the way in the natural progression through to 'portal' status.
