An Australian-based software house was recognized for its world-class innovation when it received a Jolt Productivity Award at this year's SD West conference in Silicon Valley. SPARX Systems won the award in the “Design tools and Modeling” software category for their Enterprise Architect UML 2 modeling software. Over the last 18 months, Enterprise Architect has rapidly moved from cult status to mainstream usage. With extensions for project managers, testers, developers, business analysts, support staff, report writers and more, Enterprise Architect has won converts from all industry segments.

The award caps a year that has seen SPARX Systems forge a technology partnership with Microsoft®, providing an innovative link between Enterprise Architect and Microsoft Visual Studio® 2005 Team System. Geoffrey Sparks, CEO of SPARX Systems stated that “The Enterprise Architect philosophy is about managing your model and having the whole team working from the same page. The Jolt Productivity award acknowledges the hard work, research and development that has been put into creating something more than your average UML tool.”

The Software Development Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity awards are presented annually to products, books and websites that have “jolted” the industry by helping to create faster, more user-friendly and efficient software.

Founded in 1996 by Geoffrey Sparks, SPARX Systems is a privately held company based in Creswick, Australia. SPARX has become a leading developer of UML based modeling tools with its flagship product Enterprise Architect. Used in over 60 countries world-wide, Enterprise Architect is one of the fastest-growing UML modeling tools in the world.
