"Back to basics" for specialist holiday company in Crete, Greece
March 28, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel NewsIntrepid explorers hungry for a taste of the real Crete can now create their dream holiday thanks to the new www.simplycreteholidays.co.uk.
Imagine a quiet harbour side village, basking in the Mediterranean sun, narrow streets lined with tamarind trees, old stonehouses with cobalt blue doors and shutters and brightly coloured geraniums spilling from window boxes. A land that gave rise to the myths of the Minotaur, Ariadne’s thread, the flight of Icarus and Daedelus and King Minos. Where Venetian, Turkish and traditional Cretan architecture combine to provide unique cities set among an ever changing landscape of lush fertile valleys, high snow topped mountains and coastal plains bordered by the azure waters of the Aegean.
Do you remember when visitors to Crete enjoyed personal attention and a high standard of customer service ?
Not only do this privately owned company believe that their clients deserve superior service, they also select, and individually inspect, every property for suitability before it is added to their growing portfolio of small hotels, luxury villas and character traditional cottages. They encourage their guests to discover the secret Crete, where organic farmsteads nestle in olive rich areas, reminiscent of rural Tuscany, and the concept of "filoxenia" lives on in the hearts of the villagers. The company is also keen to develop winter tourism to the island, which has been ignored by many of the major tour operators and is actively working with the local population to advance the concept. Realising the increasing level of dissatifaction among visitors with the multi-national nature of tour operators, the company was established to bring back the values and quality to those seeking something special from their holidays on the island of Crete.
Developed and launched by a British duo who have lived on the island for more than a decade, the site covers every aspect of a truly Greek holiday experience.
From accommodation through to guided walks and even Raki making expeditions, visitors can create their own tailor-made itinerary. Alternatively, first time visitors or those who want to simply sit back and relax can choose from a range of hand picked accommodation including isolated stone cottages, studios, apartments and villas.
And for visitors who want to tie the knot in paradise, the team also offer a full wedding package that includes the services of an experienced wedding co-ordinator.
Steve Moorman along with his partner Viki Kuhlke launched the site to give travellers a true taste of Greece.
He said: “I fell in love with Crete and moved to the island more than 10 years ago. After working in tourism related industries for so long, I realised that the market was changing. With the advent of direct flights to the island, we realised that our guests could take advantage of low air fares while still having a reliable source of information and assistance while on the island. It’s ideal for people who want to explore without being tied to “package” trips.
“During the past few years we realised that most holidaymakers aren’t given enough information to enjoy the real Crete”, added Viki. “ Our company gives them an alternative and we are looking forward to showing visitors the real beauty of the island.”
Steve & Viki have a wealth of experience in the hotel and licensed trade and the wedding coordination service can handle everything from document translation to flowers for the bride.
The site has recently been officially launched and enquiries and bookings are already flooding in from all over the world.
