Marketwatch Column Reveals How To Pick Winning Stocks

March 28, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
CoolcatReport.com Publisher Kevin Kennedy discusses how to pick winning stocks and the benefits of diversifying into different sized stocks in a column at Marketwatch.com.

The article, entitled “Sizing Up Winning Stocks,” was published Monday in Guru’s Corner, a feature of Marketwatch.com’s Newsletters & Research section. Kennedy, best known for picking winning microcap stocks in his flagship investment newsletter, The Coolcat Explosive Small Cap Growth Stock Report, says the volatility in microcaps makes them unsuitable for many investors.

“While I have long preached the benefits of buying microcap stocks,” Kennedy said, “I have gradually recognized that microcaps aren't for everyone and have looked for ways to broaden our coverage of the market and shift more focus to small cap, mid cap, large cap and blue chip stocks as well as ETFs and mutual funds.”

Kennedy publishes four easy-to-understand investment newsletters to help investors discover top-performing stocks. The Coolcat Explosive Small Cap Growth Stock Report, established in 1997 is ranked America’s No. 1 investment newsletter for the seven years from 1999-2005 by The Hulbert Financial Digest with a 429.4% gain (+26.9% annualized). Kennedy started The Coolcat ETF & Fidelity Select Report in 2003.

New for 2006: The Coolcat Emerging Stock Market Leaders Report and The Coolcat Total Stock Market Report. The two new newsletters focus on small cap, mid cap, large cap and blue chip stocks, and Kennedy discusses the criteria used in those reports in the Marketwatch column.

The column also examines characteristics found in the 200 best-performing stocks of 2005 and highlights five stocks in different size classes that were recently featured in CoolcatReport.com newsletters:
* Microcap—eOn Communications (NasdaqSC: EONC).
* Small Cap—Zygo Corp. (Nasdaq: ZIGO).
* Mid Cap—Randgold Resources (Nasdaq: GOLD).
* Large Cap—Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD).
* Blue Chip—Exelon (NYSE: EXC).
