The creators meet monthly in different states and work toward the common goals of producing comic books, and fine-tuning their craft. “This has truly been a fantastic experience and having Mark on board is going to make it that much better,” says Murphey, “We have some really big plans for the future directions of CAG.” Murphey who co-founded the group reports, “Mark is one of those guys who is passionate about good storytelling. He is not someone who sits back and watches other creators do wonderful things, he wants to get his hands dirty with the rest of us.”
Mark Mazz is the founder of MazzStudio, which is an independent advertising and design firm. Mark is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts where he majored in illustration. After college, Mark worked for several years in advertising where he developed his design and pre-press skills. Mark pursued a goal of quality design and effective digital production, which lead to his work with Sawyer Studios, the creative director of Harris Publications, and studio director of DialogueWorks/ Clarion Marketing NY. In addition to his print design and publishing experience, Mark comes to CAG adding a great wealth of knowledge about start-up corporations,
direct-mail campaigns, packaging, point-of-purchase, and event marketing.
“The comics medium has over the past 5 years grown out of its roots in published media into the diverse field of multi-media entertainment. Movie studios, Gaming companies, and television now look to these traditional print ideas presented in four-color for innovation. It is our responsibility to present them with engaging storytelling, which encompasses a diverse world-view, and humane as well as human characters. Online content has only started to blossom, and the principles of storytelling developed by the likes of Eisner, and furthered by Miller, Moore and others are evident. The comic’s medium leads this digital revolution with our hopes, dreams, and ideals.

With CAG we have the opportunity to engage tomorrow's creators today, and help shape a better future.” —Mark Mazz.
The Comic Art Guild will be producing its fifth book in the fall of 2006 with Mazz at the helm of the ship. Rammer Martinez will be our point person on the book’s graphic design. More information can be found at: www.comicartguild.com
