First High End Design, Lifestyle and Home Improvement Radio Newsmagazine Launches on News Radio 980 KMBZ in Kansas City

Noted Interior Designer and Host Karen Mills of Interiors By Design Inc. is Joined by a Broad Line Up of Home Improvement and Design Experts from HGTV

After launching the Living Large program in January of 2006 on Kansas City’s only live, local 24-hour news station, Mills joins the market’s radio news ratings leader backed by 15 reporters and some of the nation’s most respected broadcasters.
The one hour weekly feature airs on News Radio 980 KMBZ Sunday afternoons at 1pm with an outstanding roster of national television personalities that regularly contribute first rate content to the show including HGTV stars Michael Payne of Designing for the Sexes, Sarah Richardson of Room Service, Jennifer Convy of Awesome Interiors, Tava Smiley of I Want That! Kitchens, Angela Chee of I want that! Baths, celebrity Chris Madden and many more. Upcoming shows will feature national celebrities such as Candace Olson of Divine Design, Christopher Lowell and Constance Ramos, formerly of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
“This fast-paced newsmagazine is rapidly establishing itself as the category killer for the most intelligent design, home improvement and upscale lifestyle programming on radio. Our original content is specifically tailored for homeowners who tune in religiously to maximize return on investment and enjoyment of their most valuable asset,” said Andrew Ellenberg, the show’s Executive Producer. “We are thrilled to be the exclusive provider in this rapidly growing segment of the media marketplace.”

After designing and staging sets for local television productions, Karen Mills turned her designer’s eye to private homes. She brings a unique combination of talents into her client’s interiors. When the Midwestern native made up her mind to bring the drama of an on-camera television set into America’s living rooms, she rapidly carved out a niche as a respected interior designer and acclaimed radio personality. Karen Mills also writes a weekly column, speaks publicly and teaches design.

“I like classic elegance, interiors that are inviting and warm. For me, that ambiance comes though in architectural details such as pillars and archways. My mission on Living Large is to make high style design accessible to a mass market,” said host Karen Mills. “It is an honor to launch the program in my hometown and to join an all star roster of broadcasters on one of the nation’s top newstalk properties.”

The show’s multimedia newsmagazine extension on the web makes the show available 24/7 to listeners and viewers from all over the world featuring audio clips, videocasts, podcasts, design columns and live streaming of exclusive interviews with celebrities, newsmakers and seasoned craftspeople. As the archive grows, the site will distribute hundreds of hours of sophisticated home improvement, design and lifestyle programming on entercomkc.com/livinglarge.

Ellenberg, who launched a leading financial portal for Bloomberg in New York when the Internet was in its infancy said, “As consumer demand grows for high value content across go-anywhere communications platforms, a whole new world of opportunities opens up for Living Large and its loyal followers. Since our content is primarily audio-driven, we are particularly well positioned to capitalize on small screens like cell phones, iPods and competing devices.”
