STRATFORD SUMMER MUSIC ANNOUNCES NEW GENERAL MANAGER

The annual music festival has been a growing success for the past 5 years and this year's program could be the most ambitious yet.

The focus is on Mozart, because this year is the 250th anniversary of his birth.
Artistic Producer, John Miller, and the Board of the Festival have been busy planning a line-up of bands, choirs, marionettes and other top performers for the three-week summer season. With performers from Austria, Switzerland, the United States and many Canadian provinces, the concerts will range in genre from Mozart to cutting edge fusion.

This year, Stratford Summer Music is joined by a new General Manager, Rachael Wallis. Ms Wallis is a Stratford resident who has worked for the organization previously, as Marketing Manager. Last year she was pleased to report that ticket sales doubled over the year before.
Ms Wallis said: "We've been challenged by the Board to repeat that feat. We think that the wonderful music and the gifted performers we have coming to Stratford will draw new patrons to our events." Before taking up her new position, Ms Wallis was Executive Director of the Waterloo County Quilt Festival, based in St. Jacobs, Ontario.

John Miller said "We might yet come up with one or two more surprises between now and Monday, July 24, when the festival begins with Opening Ceremonies along the Avon River and a spectacular fireworks display. Stay tuned." The full schedule of programs can be found at the Stratford Summer Music website: stratfordsummermusic.ca.
