Interior Decorator, Dovie Dawson gives to the community More than pretty packaging

Dovie Dawson, owner of Creative Decorators, a certified interior decorator provides more than her amazing talent for her clients. She actively supports Mary’s House, a home for young women leaving the foster care system. It is an 18-month transitional living program is designed to meet the needs of at-risk and former female foster youth who have recently transitioned out of San Diego’s Foster Care System. The goal of Mary’s House is to provide these at-risk women safe shelter, life skills training, support and the advocacy they need to successfully transition into a self-sufficient and independent life. “I believe it is crucial to these ladies development to show them how to survive and function so they can support themselves.”

Ms. Dawson also is active with the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. She consistently donates her services to decorate at the various Chamber events. “Your environment has to be conducive to interact and it is a pleasure to orchestrate these venues,” stated Dovie.

She is the quintessential professional, doing it all, including: floor space analysis, color and theme selection, purchasing, installing materials, accessories and lighting. She goes beyond the call of duty to make certain her clients are more than satisfied with every step of the way. A client was enchanted with a particular fabric and Dovie believed it was overpriced, she found a similar fabric priced appropriately for her client and took it a step further by opening an account with the fabric’s manufacturer in order to pass on the discounted price to her client. She pays it forward in her business as well as her community involvement. This establishes her as someone who is not only ethical but a genuine caring woman.

Dovie recently exhibited at the San Diego Interior Design and Landscape Expo at the San Diego Convention Center and presented to an enthusiastic crowd.
