Golden Tulip is proud to announce the acquisition of the lease agreement for the Golden Tulip Winterswijk as per April 1st 2006.

The Golden Tulip Winterswijk formerly named Golden Tulip De Frerikshof is associated with Golden Tulip under a franchise agreement since 1999.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of the provincial town Winterswijk. Surrounded by well kept gardens, the hotel lies next to the local Museum Freriks area with an animal farm and a deer park. This Superior First class hotel offers business and leisure guests 66 fully equipped bedrooms, a modern conference and banqueting area (equipped for a total capacity of 250 delegates), fitness and sports facilities for young and old. The hotel also avails over a restaurant and an informal brasserie.

Mr. Roel Hilbink, managing owner of the Golden Tulip Winterswijk states: “after a lifelong career in the hotel business it was time for me and my wife to focus on the more personal aspects of life. We always wanted to sell the hotel to a group, which would bring continuity to hospitality world in the region and of course to the staff. We are very pleased that specifically Golden Tulip our long-term partner has stepped into that position.”

Mr. Roel Hilbink has been with the company for 25 years as director and the last ten years as the largest shareholder for the hotel.

Johan Westermeijer, of the Westermeijer Group, adds: “I am very pleased to sign the second agreement with Golden Tulip Hospitality Management. In today’s climate, there is a strong need for rationalizing hotel operations and with the strong presence the Golden Tulip brand has in the Netherlands, I feel this acquisition will be in a good hands to continue delivering positive returns and subsequently increase its property value.”

Hans Kennedie, Managing Director & CEO of Golden Tulip Hospitality, comments: “Golden Tulip is proud of this new addition to the hotel management portfolio. The Golden Tulip Winterswijk is the ninth hotel that we operate in The Netherlands. I am confident that with the complete implementation of our management formula the hotel will continue to position itself highly in the hospitality world of “de Achterhoek” and more specifically Winterswijk.”
