Campbell Muirhead, training in North America and active service in Lincolnshire, England, 1942-1944 – This illustrated talk will draw upon sources such as Operational Record Books, archive photographs, and the two diaries kept by Campbell Muirhead. The diaries cover Muirhead's period of training in North America, including time spent at Falcon Field, followed by his tour of duty with 12 Squadron RAF Wickenby, Lincolnshire. Particular consideration will be given to his impressions of the USA followed by an indication of what day to day life was like on a Bomber Command airfield in 1944.
