Runway Review
People walked away this Fall 2006 runway season seeing some leggy inspirations. StockinGirl, the trendsetting legwear design house from New York City, was contracted this season to design and dress up the legs of many-a-woman on the runway for Max Azria, Marc Jacobs, Tuleh, Baby Phat, Heatherette, and Moschino. It's a trend that has been gathering steam for the last few years and building major staying power. "The most fashion-forward women recognize legwear as an apparel item as opposed to an accessory," comments Summer Rayne Oakes, spokesmodel for the line. "Designers, stylists, and women realize it’s a necessary item that helps round out a look."

Slip on Some Socks
"Sweater-knit over-the-knee socks and our printed ankle socks have become highly popular," comments Edward Miccinati, Design Director for the line. Not so surprising, since this season’s looks on the runway and fashion advertisements (from Prada to D&G to Kate Spade) point to the popular trend. "Socks are easy, versatile and comfortable to wear," says Oakes. "Women who are always on the run and want to make a statement are 'sock connoisseurs' by nature." StockinGirl sells a number of printed versions on their retail site and offers a bevy of other prints to its wholesale customers. For a more subtle look, the company also offers nylon stretch floral socks in soft blacks, blues, and pinks.

Warm up with Wool
New items that have become huge hits are the "sweater knits," blended with merino wool and synthetic fiber. The leg wear is hailed as a must-have for the colder weather for its silky feel, warmth, breathability, and superior wicking properties. StockinGirl has added numerous earth-tone colors and textures to their sweater-knit collection that particularly work well for women who are looking for a fashionable and warm option under pants and dresses during the colder season.
