Raleigh, NC (PR Leap) — The Handmaidens (http://www.thehandmaidens.com), a collective of North Carolina artists and designers, are pleased to announce the debut of their first shopping event, The Handmade Market (http://www.thehandmademarket.com).

Just in time to shop for unique Mother's Day and Graduation gifts, The Handmade Market will be held at Vintage 21 (219 Oberlin Rd., near downtown Raleigh) on Saturday, May 6, 2006 from noon to 5 pm. The premiere marks the first in a series of unique shopping events designed to showcase artists, designers, and crafters from North Carolina and beyond.

Participating designers were hand picked from numerous applications, and represent a diverse group of handcrafts including jewelry, apparel, home goods, stationery, fashion accessories, items for children, and pet accessories. Though many of the designers are local, some are traveling from as far as Louisiana and Maryland to participate in The Handmade Market.

In lieu of an admission fee, shoppers will have the opportunity make a donation to Interact (http://www.interactofwake.org), a local agency that provides relief services for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. In exchange for their donation, shoppers will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win donated goods and services from local and national businesses.
