The concept of Buildbuy.com is to bring all the suppliers of building materials to one site online. A match maker of sorts to give the buyers of building and construction materials a way to choose from multiple suppliers. The idea of combining an on going auction and a one stop forum where a buyer can locate any products used in construction. Horace Jennings is heading the efforts to recruit all the suppliers in the industry.
Horace states "As it is played now, the game is not open to competition. I want a buyer to have access to five suppliers on any product so they will know the best deal out there. It is a great idea but a tough mission but the end result will be that our buyers will save money and our suppliers will make money." Now how does one go about getting this large pool of suppliers to come online? As I followed Horace in his daily routine, I witnessed a day packed with phone calls and emails courting every supplier on a list that seemed never ending. "We are interested in comments or suggestions that the industry can give us. Even if I cannot get a supplier's commitment I always manage to get their take on the idea. We have changed the model based on their feed back and that will make Builbuy.com a site that is built to order."
"The vision is clear for the co founders but the path is ever changing.
So the sell is strong and in between his day, Horace Jennings also has to keep going back to the site builder another co founder, Chocku Vellayan. Chocku Vellayan has many years of programming behind him but as he states "I have focused on making this site easy on the user. No bells and whistles, I want the users to walk thru the site without getting overwhelmed by all the graphics."
The launch is planned and the story on Buildbuy has yet to be played out but the co founders are confident of finishing this story with a bang.
