Carbonated Candy was originally invented in 1956, by a General Foods chemist looking for a way to make instant carbonated soda pop by trapping carbon dioxide in hard candy tablets, however, since the concept of instant soda did not pan out and no one at General Foods could think of another use for it, the formula was immediately shelved and nearly forgotten. 20 years later, this carbonated candy, more widely known as popping candy, became one of the most popular candies ever with its US retail introduction as POP ROCKS in 1976. A retail phenomena for 30 years, today POP ROCKS continues to be a national brand full of energy, popping with sales potential and has since become a classic among top quality international confectionery items. POP ROCKS offers both a delicious candy treat and the promise of a unique experience with lots of fun.

Popping candy consists of small pieces of hard candy that have been gasified with carbon dioxide, the same gas used in fizzing soft drinks. In the mouth, these small pieces release the entrapped gas to give off a lasting sensation of action as well as unique cracking sounds. In a child’s, or anybody’s, mouth this means fun!!

In addition to producing POP ROCKS, POP ROCKS Inc. distributes unique and innovative confectionery products for children and adults, following the specific trends and requirements of the US market.
