JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – April 23, 2006 – ImprovJacksonville, Inc. (IJ), Jacksonville’s only professional improvisational comedy troupe, announced a going-away party for two popular players today.

On Friday, April 28 at 8 & 10:00 P.M., friends and fans of Aimée and J.R. Jones will pack the IJ Comedy Theater to enjoy the couple’s last shows and say farewell. Aimee & JR are leaving the troupe to move to Wilmington, North Carolina.

The 8 P.M. show also includes a wine tasting that begins at 6:00 pm. J.R., who has been working in the wine industry, will help select the wines for the tasting. Admission to the shows is normally $10. However, people who pay $10 for the wine tasting get the comedy show for free.

Aimée is the last original founding member of ImprovJacksonville and currently serves as marketing director, player, principal and trainer for the six-year-old troupe. She auditioned for the troupe in October 2000 with no prior improvisational or stage experience. She quickly embraced improvisational comedy and the challenge of cultivating, introducing and developing a relationship between IJ and the Jacksonville community.

Aimée will stay with ImprovJacksonville as a marketing consultant from her office in North Carolina. She will also pursue her career in improvisation in the Wilmington community. Jones said, “ImprovJacksonville has been my hobby, job and passion for over 6 years. J.R. and I wanted to move closer to family in North Carolina. We consider IJ as our second family so we will visit often and have a place to play!” Both will perform as alumni when visiting Jacksonville.

J.R. has been with the troupe since its very first performance at River City Brewing Company in January 2001, where he served as tech director. After a four-year hiatus, J.R. began attending IJ’s weekly workshops and quickly accelerated up the ranks to the ensemble cast. J.R. has served IJ in many functions over the years including marketing consultant and event producer.

Improv comedy brought The Jones’ together back in January 2001, when IJ performed their first show at River City Brewing Company. They remained colleagues over the years until reunited in 2004 on the set of J.R.’s short film, A Painless Life. The two began dating and were married in August of 2005.

ImprovJacksonville is Jacksonville’s premiere improvisational theatre company. IJ performs six regular weekly shows at their comedy theatre in The Jacksonville Landing. The shows are fast paced, fun and interactive with all scenes, music and other comedy built around audience suggestions. ImprovJacksonville also offers private shows, public workshops and special events, a comedy traffic school and workshops for corporate teams.
