MUSIC SUPERVISOR FROM 2005 ACADEMY AWARD WINNING SONG FOR MOVIE HUSTLE AND FLOW JOINS NEW HIP-HOP FILM PROJECT B-BOY

Paul Stewart, Music Supervisor for Paramount and MTV’s "HUSTLE AND FLOW," which won an Oscar for "Its Hard out Here for a Pimp" performed by Three 6 Mafia, has attached himself to independent film “B-BOY”, a coming of age story set in the urban concrete jungle of Los Angeles.

Stewart’s interest once again shows us the latest trend in how Hip-Hop is affecting Hollywood. We all remember a few months ago when, for the first time, a Hip-Hop group, Three 6 Mafia performed at the 78th Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

“We are pleased that Paul joined our team,” says Producer, Neal “Xingu” Rodil. “His musical genius gives an organic inspiration that will traverse to our audience.”

Rodil put himself on the entertainment radar in Paramount’s AEON FLUX (Jan 06). As Charlize Theron’s trainer on set, Rodil made moves thereafter to create a raw urban film he felt the industry was void to.

B-Boy was originally used in urban slang for a Breakdancer. Over time, the term has expanded to include any individual whose life identifies with underground, undiscovered hip-hop music. The film tells a story of a B-boy with the good intention to stay away from his troubled past. He tires to stay clean through break dancing. Things get difficult when he decides to check out the local break dancing scene in Los Angeles and finds himself caught deeper in a lifestyle that he intended on avoiding, luring him away from dancing all together. The film shows the tribulation of finding the old ways of seeing the innocence of break dancing and the need to slip back to becoming a b-boy once again.

The musical vibe for this story of dance and Hip-Hop is the vehicle that transports the audience through the journey of the b-boy. It will be interesting to see the exploration of some new wave beats and exactly who will be that artist who will fuel “B-BOY” by means of urban sound.

The film itself will be filmed later this year.
