Building material suppliers take the next step with BuildBuy.Com.

April 29, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
BuildBuy.Com is planning to open an online market for these suppliers to connect with buyers online. Through their web site they will give every supplier the opportunity to open a store in the giant mall. They open to all, small or large, national or international and the criteria to join is simple. If you are selling building materials then you are in. BuildBuy.Com is headed by the founders who started this venture last year.
"We have pinned down our target supplier market and have started the process of selecting our suppliers" Shy Nair, CEO and founder states. She adds "When we open our site will have a huge range of products from all types of suppliers. I want to be able to offer a buyer the price up front from several suppliers. That is truly how people shop in the real world and that is what they will get at BuildBuy.Com. We offer the connection but we are not here to replace the personal contact. A buyer will be able to contact as many suppliers as he chooses from their search and he/she then can deal with whomever he chooses." Are we ready to buy drywall online? Probably not but the number of people searching for materials online is ever growing. Finding the product online is hard and prices are often elusive. This is where BuildBuy.Com will fill the gap.
There are ways to shop now for specific building materials and some very good deals as pricing goes. BuildBuy.Com will get suppliers to one place to search, compare and buy. Small and medium-sized material suppliers have been the first to show interest in joining. "They are looking to expand their reach and eager to do so. The big companies are waiting for proof and we will get them on as soon as we are established. I am pooling together some hungry and aggressive suppliers who will make this market very competitive." Shy says.
The company has admitted to switching models mid stream a few times. As Horace Jennings, Vice president of Marketing says "we had this idea to sell big. Big suppliers and the big builders but the more talking we did the more we realized that they did not need us. It is the smaller company that are looking for any avenue to sell their products and they will be able to access a large pool of buyers in one place online. We have come across many individuals who get a container load of great Mexican tile and sell it out of their homes. These are good products but without the over head they are also a great bargain. I am no longer surprised when the founders come out of our meetings rethinking every detail." Yet the company is committed to the basic idea of getting a giant mall for building materials online.
When asked why the Internet the founders do not hesitate to reply. They state reasons such as online shopping is increasing for big ticket items, they themselves have tried to buy materials online and the industry is too huge to ignore. Needless to say that they are right but they also know that their's is a difficult marketing challenge. "We know that the buyers will come and make use of the site because of the deals but to get the thousands of suppliers we want is the challenge." Nair says. So they plan to go slow without the financing needed and as Nair states "With financing then there is no stopping us. Lofty as this idea sounds the pay off if it does work is worth the risk. I am seeking our options for getting the funds to sell the service aggressively."
The company is currently talking to suppliers of tile, wood flooring, carpet, tools, lumber and the lists goes on. If you or your company want to take part in BuildBuy.Com they ask that you visit their site and request the information. And if your looking to buy materials they ask that you wait till the official launch planned for next year.
