Nashville (May 9, 2006) – Celeste Johnson and Diesel, local recording artists, announced today that they will be hosting their second annual SOULFOOD EVENT on June 9th at Belcourt Theatre to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. SOULFOOD was created to feed your soul and feed Nashville’s hungry and this year they are hoping to double what was raised at last year’s event.

“We are thrilled to join other sponsors for the second year of this outstanding musical event to help Second Harvest especially since our current tornado challenges have increased the need” said Cheryl Strichik, CEO of EMG, a Premiere Sponsor.

This year, The Sunset Grill will be the exclusive caterer for SOULFOOD, which will be a sold out affair with over 200 people in attendance. A silent auction with outstanding items will be open from 6pm until 10pm for your bidding pleasure and includes trips, wines and many surprises. During the evening their will be LaNina wine and Nemiroff vodka from Aleksey Imports, all to be enjoyed with the delicious hosted hors d’oeuvres from The Sunset Grill.

Just back from a successful fundraising event on Florida’s coast in February, SOULFOOD will guarantee to feed your soul with intimate performances by Americana recording artist Diesel, and Honey & The Lion: featuring Celeste Johnson & Denny Presley as well as a new female acapella group singing spirituals. “Our goal is to make this an annual event and one which we can do on a national basis to help Food Banks across the country,” said Celeste Johnson, co-founder of SOULFOOD. “We feel that it is important to do as much as we can to help people in need while providing a great performance affordable by all.”

Supporter level sponsor for SOULFOOD, Historic & Distinctive Homes, Karen Hoff says “The ticket price is only $10.00 and we think it makes a great gift for your clients or friends. This event is really special and we want to help where we can to make it a huge success.” You can buy your ticket at the door the night of the event or on line at www.secondharvest.com or by calling 615-244-4228 x 232.
