WASHINGTON, DC (May 7, 2006) — Margie Traylor, CEO and Co-Founder of Sitewire Marketspace Solutions in Tempe, Arizona will join the top 100 leaders of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), the nation’s largest bi-partisan women’s business group, next week in Washington, DC, for an intensive two-day conference. The “WIPP 2006 Watch: Early Signals” Spring Leadership Conference, May 10-11, will educate women business leaders on the upcoming elections, and results will be unveiled from a nationwide survey of women business owners on 2006 electoral issues and the 2008 Presidential race.

“The economic power and political clout of women business owners is continually gaining strength. As the number of 15.6 million women business owners grows, their capability to swing an election is increasing. The results of this national survey will demonstrate their influence at the ballot box and on the political landscape,” said WIPP President Barbara Kasoff.

Two renowned Washington pollsters conducting the national WIPP survey of women business owners are Celinda Lake (D), of Lake Snell, Perry and Merriman, and Kellyanne Conway (R), of The Polling Company.

Top Democratic and Republican speakers will address the “WIPP 2006 Watch: Early Signals” Conference. Joining Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Democratic Leadership Council CEO Al From and former Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson as speakers are WIPP’s bi-partisan Senior Political Advisors, Democrat Susan Turnbull, who is currently Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, and Republican Melanie Sabelhaus, former SBA Deputy Administrator. Turnbull and Sabelhaus will present the Democratic and Republican forecasts of the 2006 political races. Also, Senior Editor and Political Analyst Amy Walter with The Cook Political Report will provide insight on the upcoming national and state elections.

“On election day this year, women entrepreneurs will help elect 36 governors, 33 U.S. Senators, and 435 Members of the House of Representatives,” said Kasoff. “The WIPP Spring Leadership Conference will educate, engage and empower our top leaders on the electoral issues affecting the growth of women-owned businesses.”

In WIPP’s most recent survey of women entrepreneurs from across the country, affordable health care, lower energy costs, permanent tax cuts and winning government contracts were identified as their top issues. “What Business Women Want” was released in early April and focused on issues impacting the growth of businesses owned by women.
