Prank Monkey Records, the label that brought the world London Booted (the Mick Jones - approved Clash bootleg album), now pays homage to John Lennon.

On May 15, 2006 Prank Monkey artists Lemon Lime will release Malcolm McLennon, a reworking of two classic Lennon songs, which now sit atop a reworked Malcolm McLaren Kill Bill 2 track About Her (which itself which was a reworking of the Zombies She's Not There) and was the basis of a copyright court case late last year which McLaren won.

"I rather liked it", gushes Malcolm McLaren himself. "I can't say I've heard anything quite like that before. I was expecting to hear Lennon's vocals, but I guess it's more like a mash-up cover version - an interesting hybrid".

The b-side, Malcolm McHerman, uses a different cobbled-together version of About Her as the instrumental, and Lemon Lime adds original vocals of 2 Herman's Hermits songs, Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter, and There's a Kind of a Hush. In addition, there are snippets of other recognizable hits, plus an original section where the singer, dumped by Mrs. Brown's daughter, is now hitting on Mrs. Brown. This is another genre-busting track which doesn't fit neatly into any known category.

"Haven't heard the b-side yet", declares McLaren. "(I’ve) been busy working on Fast Food Nation, traveling and such. I hope to hear it soon, though".

Lemon Lime is comprised of Dave G. on vocals, and Rasputin, the Mad Russian, on Pro Tools.

The two tracks were recorded at Rasputin's studio across from the world famous (Madonna) Kaballah Center. "I think it adds good spiritual vibe" says Rasputin. "Plus", adds Dave, "there were always lots of babes parading around on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the free lectures".
