The Minutemen is a grassroot volunteer group working within the law in their demand that the government secure the borders and enforce immigration law.

The group evolved out the founding members concerned for our national security following the terror attack of September 11th, 2001. The border with Mexico is the most dangerous due to a bustling $140 billion trade in drug and the potential of terrorist crossing the pourous Southern borders. As many as 3 million violated the Southern border in 2005 and of those 155,000 originated from countries known to harbor terrorists.

During the Easter recess, the Minutemen sent Minuteman Tony Dolz on a tour of the nation calling on key Senators sitting on the Senate Judiciary Committee. The tour took Tony Dolz through 11 states and the District of Columbia. Tony Dolz carried a petition calling on the President to deploy the National Guard at the border while the legislators remained deadlocked. The Petition demanded that this be done before the Memorial Day weekend of the Minutemen would start construction or a border fence employing volunteers.

In a radical departure from his previous position, President Bush said in his Monday Address to the nation that he will deploy National Guards at the border with Mexico.

The spotted troop movement may indicate that orders may have already been given to mobilize the National Guard.
