Los Angeles, CA –The M.A.C AIDS Fund has awarded an Education/Awareness grant under the Creative Theater Program to The Diva Foundation to help support Sheryl Lee Ralph’s one woman show, “Sometimes I Cry”, The lives, loves, and losses of women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, in preparation for its fall tour on campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

“Sometimes I Cry is insightful, true to life, hurtful, spirit filled and an inspirational work of theater that if mass produced could probably do more in the war on the AIDS epidemic than the hordes of seminars, lectures, documentaries, and health reports being produced around the world.”

Sometimes I Cry, was written and conceived by honored AIDS activist, Sheryl Lee Ralph (Dreamgirls) when she realized just how much the face of HIV/AIDS had really changed and how little was being said. This poignant and provocative show depicts the raw and real life stories of women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. An actress possessing a wealth of talent, Ms. Ralph breaths life into each character and their story with simple gestures and song. She places each woman's story upfront and center, right in your heart.

“These women’s voices have been silent for too long in the struggle against HIV/AIDS and they must be heard. Their health and well being matters too.”
S.L. Ralph
