Four more library consortia offer PriceMiner™ to their member libraries for art, antiques and collectibles research

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four additional library consortia now offer PriceMiner™ by GoAntiques.com (www.GoAntiques.com) as a research tool for member libraries to choose when helping patrons identify or research prices for art, antiques and collectibles.

As a result, the 3,500 libraries in the consortia can purchase PriceMiner from GoAntiques.com at a discounted rate.

The library consortia are:
• Tampa Bay (Fla.) Library Consortium
• Wisconsin Library Service
• MINITEX (Minnesota Library Information Network)
• Missouri Library Network Corporation.

They join NEBASE (Nebraska Library Network) and OHIONET (serving libraries in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania).

With PriceMiner, users of participating public and specialty libraries can access more than 23 million records and 10 million images going back eight years and covering 5,200 categories and subcategories in art, antiques and collectibles.

“The recommendation of PriceMiner by large state library service networks helps individual libraries address a need expressed by their patrons for help identifying and pricing art, antiques and collectibles,” said Jim Kamnikar, president and chief executive officer of GoAntiques.com. “Identification is always the first step in pricing an antique, and our 10 million picture images provide an unprecedented resource to library members.”

Through custom features designed specially for library use, patrons can conduct a search by simply typing keywords or by using categories. PriceMiner then searches its huge database of information from eBay, GoAntiques.com and TIAS.com and returns information organized by lowest to highest price, highest to lowest price or only items with images. PriceMiner also reports information for same or similar items.

"PriceMiner fits the bill,” said Kate Ostenrude, director of the Neligh (Nebraska) Public Library. “Finally, I found a database I could afford that would actually be used by my patrons. The information on PriceMiner is comprehensive, and I think it's easier to navigate than eBay.”

Libraries can offer either limited or unlimited access to PriceMiner. The annual cost to libraries is on a sliding scale based on the number of patrons. Not only can PriceMiner for Libraries be used on computers at the library, but remote access can also be made available if desired.
