Aussie Student Launches Virtual Tower to Pay For University Degree

Wollongong, Australia - May 19, 2006 – An enterprising 18-year-old student has setup a “virtual tower” with the hopes of paying for his University degree.

Nathan Waters, a Wollongong University student, is hoping his innovative project, pixTower.com, will attract businesses wanting to be noticed on the Internet.

“Basically it’s about helping any business stand out regardless of its size, and doing it all in a creative way. The site allows businesses and websites to design their own virtual apartments on the tower that link straight back to them”, Waters said.

The thought of leaving University with huge student debts coupled with the abundance of popup ads on the Internet helped inspire him to create the concept. “Regular online advertising is so boring and no one really pays any attention to it, so I came up with pixTower”, he said.

User apartments are limited only by their imaginations. “People can design just about whatever they want. The crazier the apartment, the better; it could be anything from an indoor soccer field to a giant sandwich. It’s all about making ads that don’t feel like ads, and entertaining everyone rather than boring them”, Waters said.

Waters believes in fair play and opportunity. Each apartment will receive equal exposure and a new apartment starts at the top of the tower. “There is no David verse Goliath on pixTower, which I think is great news for small businesses and websites.”

“The site will be up for at least 5 years and I’m hoping to keep it online for much longer, so the small cost is great a investment”.
