VoIP Institute founds regional chapters in Indianapolis and Washington DC to form an association of users and experts of VoIP technology

Indianapolis, IN – With the rapid growth of the VoIP technology market – users can some times get lost in all of the hype. The VoIP Institute is founded as a non-vendor specific association of corporate users, potential users and experts to meet and learn from real-life user case studies. Regional chapters are encouraged nationwide, and Indianapolis and Washington DC are the first cities with meetings planned in June.

Whether a company is using voice over IP between their corporate sites or for their phone system capability – the fact is that the technology ultimately touches every area of a company’s business. For larger organizations the technology is typically a migration and an ongoing project that can last several years. While there are telecom and IT organizations – this is the first national association dedicated specifically to the converged issues of both. Regional chapter meeting agendas are designed to maximize user to user sharing of experiences, cases, and management best practices.

According founder to Ms. Peggy Gritt, “Companies make huge investments in VoIP technology infrastructure and systems and many times want to understand how best to make a business case, deploy it, and manage their migration. What better way than to learn from other users? The technology is also shifting towards a standard called Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and it is difficult for users to understand what is real from the vendor hype.”

The Institute also provides online forums, newsletters, and educational webinars that are not vendor-specific so that users can better understand and assimilate the realities of standards, management practices, and systems and devices. There is a membership structure to the Institute but a level of membership is offered for free called “Friend of the Institute.”

Regional chapter meetings in June are schedule in Washington DC on June 15th sponsored by Systems Integration, Inc. and in Indianapolis on June 21st sponsored by CoreBTS. Registration and details can be found on the Institute web site.

No newcomer to voice over IP (Internet Protocol) technology, CEO and founder, Peggy Gritt has seventeen years experience in voice and data technology convergence. She spent the last ten years launching and managing products at Interactive Intelligence, Inc. (NASDAQ: ININ). As former Sr. Director Global Product Marketing, she launched the first SIP-based all software IP PBX on the market in 2002 and the first multi-channel contact center software product in 1997. She now has her own consulting practice called Zelpha Media, Inc. to help companies get more value from their IP contact center and voice over IP enterprise migration.
