PALO ALTO, CALIF. (January 16, 2005) – The Independent, a leading British newspaper, named HotelShark one of the world's ten best travel websites. The honor was bestowed in an article published on January 13, 2005, entitled "The Ten Best: Travel Websites.'

Says the Independent, "HotelShark.com is renowned for its balanced hotel reviews and is edited to weed out feedback from those with a conflict of interest.' The article also notes HotelShark's meticulous "property-by-property' approach: "the site's editors don't generalise when considering chains.'

The Independent article is the first major honor earned by HotelShark in 2005. In previous years, the website has been featured in Consumer Reports, National Geographic Traveler, US News & World Report, and USA Today.

HotelShark collects, screens, and publishes guest-written reviews on hotels worldwide. The site places a small gray shark fin icon next to hotels that are, on the whole, positively reviewed by guests. The fin system gives travelers a quick way to find well-liked hotels within a given city.

Neither HotelShark nor its parent SharkPage is affiliated with the Independent or Independent News & Media Plc.
