Dr Andrea Ubhi, Dentist of the Year 2005 (The Probe awards) is pleased to announce the launch of the new tooth whitening process which is being used within her practice.

‘We have found through the new system of tooth whitening to be much more effective than previous systems, and patients are pleased with the results’ said Dr Ubhi.

The new system of ‘Ultra Combination Whitening’ involves a patient using the improved home-whitening kit for a minimum of 7 days prior to the in-surgery whitening system.

‘We have many patients who have tried the home kit bought either over-the-counter, or supplied by their previous dentist, with no discernable results. The new system of ‘Ultra Combination Whitening’ we offer in the practice has dramatic results with little effort on the patient’s behalf.’

The ‘Ultra Combination Whitening’ system works so well because of the custom-made, tighter fitting whitening trays which allow the new whitening gel to be kept in contact with the teeth, allowing it to be more effective. The use of the home whitening kit prior to the in-surgery whitening helps to prepare the teeth for the in-surgery whitening gel which has a higher concentration of active ingredients in it.

‘To achieve the best possible results, I would advise a patient to have a thorough scaling appointment with the hygienist, followed by the ‘Ultra Combination Whitening’ which consists of the home whitening kit, and the in-surgery whitening.’ Said Dr Ubhi

‘Whitening is a great way of giving your smile a new lease of life if you are happy with the shape and alignment of the teeth. If you are not happy with the shape or alignment, the next stage would be to consider porcelain laminate veneers.’

Porcelain veneers can be best described as ‘false-fingernails’ for teeth, and are securely placed over the front surface of your natural teeth, giving the appearance of a straighter, whiter smile.

‘The most important thing is to maintain a good oral hygiene routine – visit a hygienist regularly, and follow their advice.’
