BET’s Rap City Host Mad Linx Covers The Bay Area “Hyphy Week”

Oakland, CA- There is a new subculture of Hip-Hop and its called Hyphy. BET’s Mad Linx is at the place of its origin—Oakland/Bay area, where in conjunction with BET they will celebrate this phenomenon with “Hyphy Week.” And rest assure, Mad Linx will bring all the action, performances to his show, starting May 30th through June 5th.

Hyphy has established a fresh stage for hip-hop veterans as Too $hort, The Federation, E-40 and others. BET along with Mad Linx has developed this series to highlight “Hyphy” and is bringing this new musical genre to rest of the U.S. through “Rap City.” This series will take the viewer through an in-depth analysis of the past, present and future of Bay Area Hip Hop.

The series will include segments on Too $hort on May 30th; followed by E-40 on the 31st; The Heiroglyphics & Davey D on the 1st; an rundown of “What is Hyphy” on the 2nd; the top ten countdown from Oakland on the 3rd featuring several Oakland rap stars, and more “Hyphy” on the 5th.

The series is another major undertaking for BET in its continual comprehensive coverage of the always evolving hip hop music. Kudos to BET’s Rap City’s Host Mad Linx; Supervising Producer Matt Smith; Producer Malik Blue and Coordinating Producer Charles Johnson for producing this enlightening, educational and entertaining series which documents another musical emergence and growth in the Hip Hop community.
