AAGolf Magazine Tees Off! First publication targeted to Asian American and Asian golf audiences

CHICAGO, June 01, 2006—AAGolf Magazine is a new bimonthly publication for Asian American golfers. Founder and Publisher Sunny Leon says the magazine is the first of its kind.

“I have been playing golf for about eight years and have built many new friendships through the sport,” Leon says. “In the last few years, I realized that there are so many golf organizations and events within each of the Asian communities in the Chicago area. I thought it would be a great idea to try to tie all of them together through this magazine.”

Leon adds that AAGolf is more than just a glossy magazine or website.

“We aim to create networking opportunities and promote golf across Asian communities. Our major event this summer, sponsored by Horseshoe Casino, is the Asian American Challenge Cup on August 19, where golfers of all backgrounds will compete. We have teams of players from China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States that will join us in Indiana at the Lost Marsh Golf Club.”

With the meteoric rise of Michelle Wie, preceded by Tiger Woods, golfing now appeals to younger players—an audience not overlooked by AAGolf.

“I was also inspired by my daughter, Shannon, who has taken up the game of golf,” Leon adds. “We have therefore devoted a section of the magazine to covering and promoting junior golf."

AAGolf Magazine is not limited to Asian and Asian American golfers.

“The target audience is anyone who is passionate about golf and would like to learn more about Asian cultures,” says Leon.

Copies of the magazine are available at courses and pro shops throughout the Midwest. For subscription and advertising information, contact Kimberly Hsu Engler at kim@aagolfmag.com, or visit www.aagolfmag.com.
