June 02, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Mark Rushton's latest podcast features a couple of live recordings from the Ambient Matyk Cafe in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The recording can be downloaded via podcast.markrushton.com or any major podcast search engine such as iTunes or Yahoo Podcasts.

Recorded in late April of 2006, it showcases Mark Rushton on laptop, loops, and live mixing, and Jon Harnish on bass guitar and effects.

The first track is a 12 minute improvisational take on "Winter Wind Chimes" - a track originally featured in studio form in Rushton's "What Does An Iowa Winter Sound Like?" podcast back in January. The latest version features artificial wind chimes, swelling electronica, and tempered bass feedback.

After a short break Mark Rushton introduces a second track, an untitled piece. It runs about 16 minutes and was recorded during the same session. This piece of music is more bass heavy in the beginning and eventually becomes ambient and drifty as it progresses.

Mark Rushton and Jon Harnish will be playing "Experiment 2" at the Emerald City Ballroom in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, June 30th. They also plan to do live soundscaping during the summer in Iowa City.

Rushton and Harnish expect to release more live soundscaping podcasts in the future.

Rushton has been releasing his music in podcast form via the internet since 2004 and currently has several thousand listeners worldwide.
