WinterFest Announces ‘Threads to Creativity” Needlework Competition

Greater Washington D.C./Baltimore Area – June 2, 2006. 2006 Locust Quilt and Craft ‘WinterFest’ announces its first needlework contest to celebrate its 5th year anniversary, and to support its goal to truly represent the extraordinary and varied fabric of the cultural landscape of North America by reflecting the diversity of interests and crafting skills. Threads to Creativity is the general theme for this competition. The contest is open to any and all needlework. Entry forms are available at www.LocustQuiltandCraft.com. Anyone can enter. Entry deadline is October 1, 2006.

Stitching Pretty is the event sponsor for the Show. “We are ecstatic about our support for this event. The craft of needlework has a tradition of creativity and expression” says Michelle Arsenault, owner of Stitching Pretty in Laurel Maryland. Submitted needlework will be exhibited at ‘WinterFest’ and on the Locust Quilt and Craft website. The Show prizes are gift cards of $200.00 for the first-place winner, $100 for the second-place and third-place $50. The 5th annual Locust Quilt and Craft ‘WinterFest’, is a celebration of art, quilting and crafting through Service, Support, Enablement, Encouragement and Promotion. ‘WinterFest’ offers a variety of home arts, quilts, and crafts vendors and exhibits. The Festivities run from Saturday, November 4, 2006 through Sunday, November 5, 2006, at the Hilton Columbia in Howard County Maryland. Official ‘WinterFest’ hours are Saturday November 4, 2006 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m; and Sunday, November 5, 2006 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Locust Quilt and Craft ‘WinterFest’ is a fun and educational resource complete with daily exhibits and demonstrations that are sure to captivate visitors of all ages.
