The web has seen its fair share of sites selling advertising and plenty of clones of the successful milliondollarhomepage clones. But what happens when another original idea comes along?

This is the exact question Ryan Johnston, a student of the University of Georgia, asked himself. Johnston is releasing his latest website linkr.us as an attempt to create another advertising phenom site. The site lets advertisers choose the price and text of their link. Depending on the price paid (or "bid"), the link will be displayed in its respecting spot on the site. Ryan claims that it's the "competition for the top link that will drive advertisers to the site."

Linkr.us may seem like just another get-rich-quick scheme, but the UGA student laughs off that notion. He state s that "most get-rich-quick schemes don't actually benefit anyone except the person hoping to 'get rich quick.' Linkr.us is different in that it provides a great method of advertising so both parties benefit." Ryan sees the site as a way to get a head start into becoming an entrepreneur and running his own business some day.

As of launch, the top link is only at a dollar so "bid your link to the top" while you still can.
