Dr. Jacob R. Mittleider, known throughout the world for his pioneering work in teaching highly productive family gardening principles and procedures, died at his home in Redlands, California on Sunday, May 28, 2006 from the effects of a Stroke. He was 88 years old, and still actively researching, teaching others, and growing the best garden his neighbors had ever seen.

Jacob is survived by his wife Mildred and two married daughters.

Dr. Mittleider's work is being carried on, and the important message of sustainable family gardening is being carried to the world by the Food For Everyone Foundation, with a highly informative website at www.foodforeveryone.org.

Following Jacob Mittleider's tradition, the Foundation provides much gardening information, tips, techniques, and advice free on the website. In addition, the Foundation President, Mr. Jim Kennard, is devoted to conducting gardening training projects in the developing countries, even as Jacob did for so many years.

The Foundation is currently in Armenia for 5 months, working with full-time students as well as 200 village families in several regions of the country. Brief reports of Mr. Kennard's work and progress can be read on the Foundation weblog at www.foodforeveryone.org/blog.
