Senegal Tour - 4th July Celebration

Boston based Spector Travel's eight-day tour of Senegal and Gambia departs July 1. The tour includes two nights in Banjul, Gambia, and three nights in Dakar, Senegal.

Sightseeing in The Gambia includes the Banjul market famous for woodcarvings, jewelry and African artifacts and a stop at the orphan village giving passengers a chance to donate clothing, medical and school supplies. Travelers will also visit the Gambian village of Juffureh, made famous in Alex Haley's Roots. In Senegal, the group visits Goree Island, a holding port for slaves before they were shipped to the New World. They will also visit the city of Dakar and see Independence Square, the Presidential Palace, the University of Dakar, Soumbedioune well known for crafts, the Grand Mosque and the Sandaga and Kermel markets.

Priced from $1,825 per person double, the package includes roundtrip economy class airfare from New York, five nights' first class accommodations, five breakfasts, sightseeing and transfers.
