The State of our Nation’s Tap Water and the Importance of Pure Water to the Health and Development of our Children

Long Beach, NY— A recent report published by the Environmental Working Group gives us cause for concern of our Nation’s tap water. After a two and a half year investigation, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) concluded that the tap water in 42 states is contaminated with more then 140 unregulated chemicals. During the testing performed by EWG, a total of 260 contaminants were found in our nation’s tap water (in 42 states). Of those, less than 50% have enforceable health limits called maximum contamination levels or MCL’S. Of the unregulated contaminants, 52 have been linked to cancer, 41 to reproductive toxicity, 36 to developmental toxicity, and 16 to immune system damage. Imagine the health risks posed by these contaminants to adults, now consider our children.
