National radio host Mike Gallagher knew he had to do something when he saw The Philadelphia Inquirer’s article about business owner Joey Vento being
under attack for refusing to remove a sign in his famous Geno’s Steaks cheese steak shop. Gallagher, who has been a frequent critic of illegal immigrants on his syndicated talk show, feels strongly that immigrants should learn to speak the English language if they want to live in America. Vento, owner of the legendary Geno’s Steaks finds himself being targeted by Philadelphia bureaucrats and activists for having a sign posted that reads: “This is AMERICA…WHEN ORDERING SPEAK ENGLISH.”

Mr. Vento believes his customers should be able to order the famous Geno’s “with” cheese steak in English. Even the Geno’s website warns customers to “be prepared and know how to order,
because the service is fast and the line keeps moving.” Vento posted the sign about nine months ago, after seeing an increasing number of non English-speaking customers at his restaurant.

The story caught Gallagher’s attention when the City of Philadelphia’s Commission on Human Rights turned their lawyers on Geno’s by slapping Vento with a complaint that accuses him of
violating two sections of the city’s anti-discrimination laws: “denying service to someone because of his or her national origin, and having printed material making certain groups of people feel their
patronage is unwelcome,” according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Gallagher interviewed Joey Vento on his national radio show Tuesday and promised his support. Gallagher said, “there’s nothing wrong with believing America is an English-speaking country. Politicians continue to ignore the American people’s wish for tough immigration policies, and with American heritage increasingly under attack, Mr. Vento’s struggle is one worth supporting and fighting for.” Gallagher is showing his support by taking his radio show, heard on approximately 200 radio stations, to Philadelphia and broadcasting from Geno’s on Wednesday, June 14, 2006
between 9:00 am— Noon EST. The Mike Gallagher Show is heard in Philadelphia on News Talk 990 AM WNTP.

Gallagher is also a frequent Guest Host/Contributor on Fox News; author of the best selling “Surrounded by Idiots: Fighting Liberal Lunacy in America” and writes a weekly column for
Townhall.com. Gallagher formed The Mike Gallagher Show Charitable Foundation (“Gallagher’s Army”) in response to his listener’s support of charitable causes he often mentioned on his radio show. Gallagher’s Army has helped send over 70,000 “gift boxes” to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
