Phurry Records present DIRTY STAR's THE MAD RAVEN- (IN MONOSTEREO)

June 18, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Singer songwriter Star and arranger RL are brothers from the Midlands who have been quietly crafting their antidote to the UK’s current urban-pop nightmare for several years now. With their key influences ranging from Outkast to Gary Numan, RZA, Spacek via James Brown and Mick Jagger they are ready to shake up the British music industry.

From an early age both Star and RL were brought up and introduced to different types of music by their parents. They were exposed to Funk, Disco, Reggae and British pop/rock acts of the early seventies and eighties. Artists such as Dillinger, Marc Bolan, Sylvester, Adam Ant, Marvin Gaye and Lee Perry were constantly being played. Along the way Prince’s Dirty Mind and Controversy albums with his all round showmanship catapulted these brothers into their love of music.

After releasing their debut record Dirty Star E.P in 2003 a year later they released Dirty Star’s Illphonic (2004) both E.P’s were well received and critically acclaimed.

Another Episode was used for The Bertallosophie ffwd vol.4 compilation album released in Italy by V2 records July/August 2005.

Dirty Star has been supported worldwide by Scanner fm (Spain), Radio-Deejay (Italy), 1xtra (UK), Kiss 100 (UK), Galaxy fm (UK), Juice fm (UK), Samurai fm (Japan) and many others.

Illphonic is a collection of songs about living in a time that is so materialistic and negative, yet there is hope to be found someplace “so take the bullets out the barrel”.

The Mad Raven- (In Monostereo) is Dirty Stars latest independent release, available from 17th April 2006 via Independent retailers (UK) and I Tunes. The Mad Raven is a social commentary of the dangerous and “crazy” times we live in today, via a soudscape of Funk Disco, Hip Hop and 80s inspired pop.
