Celebrity, Chipper Lowell, To Receive Prestigious “Comedy Magician Of The Year” Award

(Lake Tahoe, NV) On June 24, 2006, comic entertainer Chipper Lowell will be honored with the Merlin Award for "Comedy Magician of the Year" for 2006. The Merlin Award is to magic what the Oscar is to the film industry. This prestigious award will be presented to Chipper in person by the President of the International Magicians Society, Mr. Tony Hassini.

Past recipients of the Merlin Awards for excellence in magic include Doug Henning, Harry Blackstone, Siegfried & Roy, and David Copperfield. The International Magicians Society has over 37,000 members from around the world. Voting members begin with approximately one hundred names and then narrows that list down to a select handful. The criteria for the Merlin awards are based on talent, showmanship, originality, skill and above all the rare ability to entertain under any conditions.

The Merlin Award statuette was commissioned to over 100 art students at New York University. The winning design was carved and created in 1968 by NYU art student Carol Michaud.

This will be the second time that Chipper will be honored with a Merlin. He received his first "Comedy Magician of the Year" Merlin award in 2004.
