LAS VEGAS — June 23, 2006 — Desert Radiologists has successfully implemented the MedInformatix RIS. MedInformatix was selected as the vendor of choice over Siemens, RisLogic, General Electric, and others. The Proof of Concept agreement between the two companies is viewed as state of the art.
Desert Radiologists was founded in 1966 by Drs. Robert Taylor, Harris Knudson, James Lum, and has grown with the Las Vegas Community to become the area's chief resource for the highest quality diagnostic care. The practice currently comprises 44 radiologists with five more scheduled to join the group in the next few months. The practice provides service for five hospitals and four large integrated health delivery systems. Desert Radiologists has nine outpatient facilities and anticipates adding additional centers to serve the area’s rapidly growing population. The site currently reads approximately one million studies a year making it one of the largest in North America.
To improve its efficiency, Desert Radiologists contracted with MedInformatix in 2005 for an ambitious project: implementation of the revered Proof of Concept installation which will take the entire enterprise to the next level. With this technology, no matter where data is obtained, e.g. an image, a charge, transcription, etc., it is delivered to a centralized location. Design development will help drive the workflow with the object to control all key indicators associated with workflow tasks pushing the database through algorithms.
Thomas McGonigle, Chief Executive Officer at MedInformatix, stated that “We are very fortunate to add Desert Radiologists to our list of clients. They are a first class organization. We are privileged to have a partner with similar market goals. The contract is significant, not only in terms of dollars, but more importantly, the team atmosphere that brings Desert Radiologist and our engineers into the future." Mr. McGonigle went on to summarize some of the key areas of development:
 Macro Design Concept that will enable Database to assist Entire Infrastructure – Items will appear on the desktops of the organization’s staff to help stream line workflow.
 Authorization, Transcription, Film, Mammography, and Biopsy Tracking.
 Downloads for Existing Transcription Reports, Current Film Locations, and Patient Demographics.
 Fax Preps directly to Referring Providers and Patients.
 RIS to RIS and PACS to PACS Interfaces.
 Capability to load Modalities from Desert Radiologist’s RIS to Hospital’s RIS.
 Centralized Dictation.
 Quality Control Procedures.
 Wet Read Notification.
 Send Images from Hospital PACS to E-Med.
 Phone System Connectivity including Tight Integration with Mytel.
