Melbourne, Australia, June 23, 2006 – The PodLounge, today announced the launch of their new version of The PodLounge tailored for Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) users. The PodLounge was created to make it easier for listeners to find podcasts of interest on the internet - now with The PodLounge for PSP – psp.thepodlounge.com, PSP users share this benefit, without the need for a computer.

The Podlounge for PSP, the only podcast directory that is PSP friendly, allows users quick and easy access to podcasts using the in-built wireless (802.11) access, integrating with the Sony PSP’s existing RSS support. “The most frustrating aspect of using a PSP as a media device for podcasts has been the difficulty in locating podcasts using websites not suitably designed for use on a PSP”, says John McClumpha, Technical Director of The PodLounge, “There’s nothing worse than navigating through a site that is twice the width of your screen”.

Although designed primarily as a games machine, the Sony PSP is gaining popularity as a portable media device. There is no doubt that the simplified access to podcasts through The PodLounge for PSP will give those who may have written it off as purely a games machine, a definite reason to consider it. “With The PodLounge for PSP, users can search our database of over 28,000 podcasts and directly download episodes or subscribe to podcast feeds using only their PSP – there is no longer a need for a computer or third party software.”

Just barely 6 months since its launch, the directory has more than 4 million hits, and has already overtaken major players in the market, with its impressive listing of more than 28,000 podcasts feeds. “The interest and growth in podcasting has been phenomenal”.

For those new to podcasting, The PodLounge is an extremely user-friendly podcast directory. By either searching for a topic of interest or browsing the comprehensive categories, users can very quickly and easily find, listen to or view, and subscribe to podcasts from all over the world.
